This post is waaaay overdue, as the Night Noodle Markets were hosted back in March/April, but I thought I still publish this post! Compared to last year, where it was held at the Perth Cultural Centre, this year's Night Noodle Market, in terms of food selection was impressive. It was extremely crowded. The event ran from 5PM to 10PM, we arrived there a little bit before they opened the gates and there was already a long queue to get in. After an hour or so, the crowd got a bit ridiculous, I couldn't believe the amount of prams there were too, it was almost laughable. The event itself was located at Elizabeth Quay, although it was fenced off in a little compound. I think if they made the area larger, there would've have been more room for the massive amount of guests and made the experience more enjoyable.
As usual, it seemed like Hoy Pinoy was the most sought after at the Night Noodle Markets, the lines were massive! Equally popular was the Black Star Pastry and N2 Extreme Gelato tent that came all the way from Sydney. We tired out the infamous strawberry and watermelon cake and the Ferrero Reveal nitrogen ice-cream. I thought the cake lived up to everyone's expectations, at first I was a bit skeptical about having watermelon in a cake, but it was delicious and texturally interesting. It was subtly sweet and there was a hint of rose which made the dainty dish even more pleasant. The N2 creation was pretty impressive, the hazelnut gelato itself was delicious and creamy, but I wasn't too sure if it was worth the 8 dollars, seeing as it was pretty small as well.
Other dishes we tried out included grilled corn from Olio's, tofu baker slider from Pasar Malam, and smashing pumpkins bao from Lucky Chan's. My favourite dish of the night had to be the potato and ricotta kofta balls from Turban Chopsticks! Everything from them was vegetarian, and they also had plenty gluten free and vegan options as well. We also had their sang chop bad lettuce cups, which were messy to eat but so enjoyable!
