Sweet and Salty at Santi's in Nedlands

From looking at other reviews of Santi's in Nedlands, this little cafe on the far end of Hampden Road near the hospital is run by an Italian mother and daughter duo. The cafe was lively and there were plenty of seats available, the décor was shiny and very Italian modern with black and white typography across the main wall and extravagant lampshades. Along with their regular menu items, make sure to check out the specials board next to the food cabinet!
For brunch, I ordered the pancakes! It came with four medium sized fluffy pancakes with a generous serve of double cream, mixed berries compote and maple syrup. What came out to me was slightly different to what was described on the menu. I distinctly remember that the pancakes was supposed to come with honeycomb butter and fresh cream. Nevertheless it was still delicious, although it would have been nice to see what the honeycomb butter was like! The pancakes were soft, moist and fluffy throughout and the slight sourness and freshness of the berries contrasted nicely against the sweet cream and maple syrup. It was really enjoyable, especially with the flat white I ordered.

My mum ordered the garlic mushroom bruschetta that came with feta cheese, rocket, half an avocado and bread that looked a bit like rye, although I'm not too sure. The mushrooms were really garlicky and flavoursome and went so went with the cream avocado and the fresh rocket leaves. It's a great dish to have a bite of, especially when you have a sweet dish. So yummy, and comforting. There was a garlic aftertaste however, but I thought it was worth it. I wouldn't mind coming back here again! I love the fact that they serve breakfast until 2PM. Breakfast is such a pleasure.
